Rolls-Royce’s & Bentley’s For Sale

As a very small boy, I fell in love with Rolls-Royce. I remember watching Burke’s Law, where Gene Barry was chauffeured in a Silver Cloud. That’s where my passion began and my dream of someday owning one of these beautiful cars started.

Fast forward a few years, when I went with my dad to Lyle Chevrolet in High Point, North Carolina, where he was looking to purchase a farm truck. As small, curious boys will do, I wandered off to the breezeway between the showroom and the shop and was stopped frozen in my tracks by a new black Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith sitting there.

I will never forget walking up to take a closer look when I felt the presence of a man standing behind me. The first thing he said was, “What do you think about this car?”

The man was Geoff Eads, the general manager of the Rolls-Royce division. At that time, Lyle Chevrolet was the only Rolls-Royce dealer in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. He took me under his wing, let me sit in the car, started it up, and then took me to his office and gave me literature about the history of Rolls-Royce. I hung that literature in my office for years, and now that I am retired, it hangs in my home.

Geoff knew the importance of how to treat a future prospective buyer. He invested in me and planted a seed that continued to flourish and grow. Children never forget a kindness or harshness displayed toward them. We shared many conversations over the years, and I later found out that the Cloud Series was his passion as well.

I searched and studied for many years until I was recommended to contact Mr. John Palma. His outstanding reputation as the person I now refer to as “Mr. Rolls-Royce” was without question.

John took so much time talking with me and giving me insight and an education about these wonderful automobiles. It was meant to be that he had an immaculate 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I. From the moment I saw it on his website, I knew it was coming home with me to North Carolina.

John encouraged me to come and see the car in person, so I immediately booked a flight. It was wonderful meeting John, and as soon as I saw the Silver Cloud, I knew it was going to be the end of my lifelong search for what started as a small boy.
